A Restorative Wellness Practitioner (RWP) is certified by Restorative Wellness Solutions to use laboratory testing and other specialized tools to identify blocking factors and imbalances in the body that prevent healing. Restorative Wellness Practitioners do not diagnose or treat medical conditions, illnesses, injury, or disease.
A Functional Nutritional Therapy Practitioner (FNTP) is a nutritional therapist certified by the Nutritional Therapy Association who evaluates the nutritional needs of a client and makes recommendations for dietary changes to help balance body chemistry and achieve optimal wellness. Functional Nutritional Therapy Practitioners do not diagnose or treat medical conditions, illnesses, injury, or disease.
To be honest, I don’t like to guess. Laboratory results give me the objective means to see what is going on inside of your body so that I can create a more accurate healing protocol to meet your specific needs.
In functional nutrition, the gut is foundational to optimal health. The majority of our immune system lives in and around the gut so when there is dysfunction in digestion it can lead to issues in other body systems resulting in skin conditions, migraines, blood sugar imbalances/sugar cravings, thyroid dysfunction, immune challenges, hormone imbalances, and more. This means that even in the absence of digestive symptoms, the gut is the healing priority and where we start with everyone. As the gut rebalances, It is not uncommon for these other symptoms to resolve. And if symptoms persist, it provides clues to help us focus our work.
Supplements are recommended in most healing protocols. They are not used as “treatment” for a “condition”, but rather to support healing and rebalancing. While food and nutrition will always be the starting point of our work, for most clients, this is not enough to facilitate full healing. Supplements provide targeted replacement of missing nutrients, address foundational issues, support proper function, and encourage healing, while also helping clients deal with some of their most troubling symptoms. Supplementation is often used aggressively during a protocol to ensure full and complete healing and rebalancing but once achieved, a more moderate maintenance protocol is implemented over the long term.
Finding and addressing root cause can be a slow process, taking about 6 months, on average. Healing protocols can be intense, especially in the beginning. Most include the temporary removal of favorite foods from the diet, modifications to sleep and exercise routines, and the need to take multiple supplements throughout the day. Structuring this work in packages provides multiple opportunities for questions and protocol refinement. It also promotes accountability and ensures that you have the dedicated support needed to address your symptoms and meet your goals.

When I am not working, you can find me studying for my next class, teaching courses in functional nutrition for Restorative Wellness Solutions, exploring the outdoors with my family, training with kettlebells, or in the kitchen experimenting with new recipes.
